When the Kennel Club Genetics Centre at the Animal Health Trust launched the 'Give a Dog a Genome' project in January 2016, they were hoping to recruit 50 different breeds to take part. The Kennel Club Charitable Trust (KCCT) had pledged £50,000 towards the project, £1,000 per breed, with the hope that each breed would be able to match this with their own £1,000 to ensure participation. The interest from the canine community took the AHT by surprise and 75 breeds quickly registered their interest. We are very pleased to announce that Lakeland Terriers have been successful in securing a place amongst the 50 breeds who will receive funding from the KCCT.
